How I Teach

In Person-

I provide professional physics tutoring lessons in person for local students in the Denver, Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, Englewood, Lone Tree, Parker, Centennial, Aurora, Golden, Arvada, Broomfield, Thornton, and other surrounding areas! I usually meet with students in a mutually-convenient public coffee shop or library which can place me close to you! I am always open to places the student would like to work. We can work on class work or material you need outside of a particular class as well!

Online-

I also provide professional physics tutoring for non-local students in addition to local students wanting the convenience of this online format. Online tutoring is not weather dependent, removes travel and commuting time, and is extra convenient in your own home! My method of online tutoring allows screen sharing for online problems, a camera on my whiteboard to show what I write even larger than in person, and offers other great advantages like file sharing and visualization tools for math and science. I’ve had many students who were very surprised at how effective online tutoring was for them so give a first lesson a shot; you won’t be disappointed!

Subjects I Teach

I teach all major physics classes in high school and many college-level classes as well! I’m more than prepared to help you with Physics 1 (standard, honors, AP, and college– algebra- or calculus-based), Physics 2 (also all levels), Nuclear Physics (high school and college), the SAT Physics subject test, the Physics GRE, and other miscellaneous, major-specific or engineering-focused physics classes. I teach these topics at all levels including first-time students in these classes to adults returning to college!

Qualifications

I have conducted thousands of hours of tutoring in the past 2 years in science and math! I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Applied Physics a few months after obtaining my Bachelor’s Engineering physics; we deal with many different concepts in physics and I’ve taught the material enough that I know how to best approach teaching the material in a systematic way! I have a thorough understanding of all of the classes I teach and know exactly how to impart this understanding to my students. Check out my qualifications page for more details!

I would love to hear from you! I am always taking new students and I don’t require any commitment or obligation to future lessons; you can work with me once or twice to prepare for a test, or any amount of times weekly for all or parts of your class! I don’t require students to take the same block of time each week either. I’d love to discuss your needs!

Valerie K.
AP Physics 1

“When I first started taking AP Physics I was at a complete loss. I had tried tutors from school to PhDs, but I was starting to think my brain just didn’t work that way. I found Alex through a tutoring app and from my first session things started to click. He takes the time to describe not just the how of a problem but why. What most helped me was that he challenged me to try problems on my own and would guide me if I was lost. I was I started getting A’s on tests when I was clueless on the homework and I even felt comfortable tutoring my friends. By the time my final rolled around I had seen Alex about once every one or two months but even though I didn’t see him all that often I still retained the information far better than when me teacher taught it. I scored a five on my practice test final followed by a five on the actual AP test. Tutoring with Alex definitely helped me get there. After every session I felt more confident and comfortable with the material. Alex is definitely the best tutor I’ve ever had!”

Samm J.
Graduate Nuclear Physics

“My first Nuclear Physics class was online and taught by a teacher who was not succeeding in explaining the advanced topics in a way I understood. I found Alex through an online tutoring site and through online sessions he was able to help me understand concepts that I was otherwise unable to process. He was patient with me and very in depth in his explanations of the concepts. Alex is very knowledgeable but also very capable of explaining things in a way that I was able to learn. His help on homework problems helped me to receive a B on my final as compared to the C- I was receiving before his help. I am very grateful for all of his help.”

Physics 2, Algebra & Linear Algebra

“Coming to Alex was one of the best decisions I ever made! Not only does he help me understand topics I don’t feel confident on but he also helps me grasp a better understanding of topics I understand well. My sophomore year of college I found Alex after I was really struggling in Calc 3. Not only did Alex help me pass the class with flying colors but I really felt like he cared about my progress and understanding of the topics. He has helped me in numerous other subjects as well and has helped me gain confidence as a STEM student.”

Tasveen C.
AP Physics 2

“Alex is a really amazing teacher. I’ve always had trouble with physics and with his help, the class became a lot easier. He challenged me to solve problems I thought were beyond me and thoroughly explained not just the concept but why the math worked (which was always something I had trouble understanding). He was a great help and I’m so grateful!”
