Physics 2- Standard, Honors, AP, and University Physics 2 Tutoring
High School-Level
Standard Physics 2
Standard
Standard physics 2 in high school incorporates some of the basics of electromagnetism into the curriculum including charges, forces, electric fields, currents, magnetic fields and circuits. There is usually some analysis of how fields behave and influence charges, as well as some material on currents, magnetic fields and introductory circuit components and analysis. Lots of sections in this class can seem arbitrary and unusual without the calculus that governs the interactions between charges and fields so I work with the student in mastering the algebraic equations that model these situations and also help with techniques for circuits and fields!
Honors Physics 2
Honors
Not as many schools will have honors physics 2, however whether algebra- or calculus-based, I can help you excel in your particular class. I am prepared to help you with the introductory electromagnetism and circuit material that occurs in standard physics 2 as well as any more advanced or calculus-based topics that are added in!
AP Physics 2
I have tutored college-level Physics 2 on many occasions and therefore can help you with what you need on your AP Physics 2 exam. I am very familiar with the AP curriculum as well as much of this particular test and I’d be happy to help you study and prepare for your class and/or the test itself!
College-Level
Algebra-Based
Algebra-Based
Algebra-based physics in college most closely matches AP physics (see above) because the necessary concepts are introduced without the calculus material from which they are derived. These concepts include charges and fields, circuits, fluids, and others with equations given without the usage of calculus. I work with students in these classes to help understand the approaches to solving problems without invoking math that they haven’t taken yet if they’re unfamiliar with the underlying calculus backbone!
Calculus-Based
Calculus-Based
Calculus-based physics 2 is heavy in calculus, vector algebra/calculus and integration. Physics is a direct way to apply the material from calculus and some challenges of this class include having a thorough understanding of integration techniques and calculation methods. Having my degrees in physics, as well as a strong understanding of and experience in calculus, allows me to help make sense of this class and I can work with you in both the physics topics you’ll cover as well as the math that models what you learn in it.
Engineering-Focused
There are occasional physics 2 classes for majors of engineering disciplines that are tailored to your specific major. My undergraduate degree was in Engineering Physics and so I am familiar with many of these engineering tracks. I have also worked with students from varying backgrounds on engineering-centered physics. Such majors that can have their own physics classes include mechanical, civil, electrical, and petroleum engineering. I can show you the underlying meaning behind the physics concepts you learn as well as help you apply them to your specific branch of engineering.
